IBM’s got some new systems software for managing cross-platform virtual servers called Systems Director VMControl.
It says users can discover, display, monitor and locate virtual resources; create and manage virtual servers; and deploy and manage workloads with a common interface across System z mainframes, System x x86 servers, BladeCenter, and Power Systems AIX , Linux and i platforms.
It’s supposed to provide lifecycle management, with its ability to create, modify and delete virtual resources, as well as move them to other locations. It’s also supposed to reduce TCO.
