EMC took 78.2% control of Data Domain at end of business last Friday. Complete acquisition is expected by the end of the month when EMC says Data Domain will be the start of a new production division focused on next-generation disk-based backup, recovery and archiving solutions. The division will be run by Data Domain CEO Frank Slootman under EMC CEO Joe Tucci. EMC is promising to invest and says it expects the division to grow revenue at “significant” double-digit rates and hit a billion dollars by next year.
