SCM Microsystems Smart Card Readers Ready for Windows 7
Its portfolio of innovative smart card readers now support Microsoft(R)'s soon to be released operating system

SCM Microsystems, Inc., a provider of solutions for secure access, secure identity and secure exchange, today announced that its portfolio of innovative smart card readers now support Microsoft(R)'s soon to be released operating system, Windows(R) 7, as well as Windows Server 2008 R2. The readers also are compliant with Windows Logo Kit 1.4, which provides everything necessary to certify devices for Windows.

SCM's new software drivers ensure that private and corporate users purchasing a new computer with Windows 7 or upgrading their existing PCs for the new operating system can continue to use their SCM smart card readers without disruption. By further enhancing the interoperability of its products, SCM Microsystems supports the broadest range of operating systems - including Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Windows 7, as well as Mac OS X and Linux - to provide its customers with ease of use and to protect users' investments in smart card-based security programs.

Signed drivers for Microsoft Windows 7 are available now for SCM's highly-sophisticated Class 1 contact smart card readers, which enable secure exchange of electronic information and secure access to PCs and networks for high security applications in government and other industries. As of today, this includes the following products: SCR331, SCR3310, SCR3310v2.0, SCR3311, SCR3320, SCR333, SCR335, SCR338, SCR531, SCR241 and SCR243. Signed drivers for SCM's range of contactless readers will be available in the third quarter of 2009. The complete list of readers supporting Windows 7 is available on SCM's website www.scmmicro.com and will be updated as new readers are added.
