BEA Introduces WebLogic Real Time Edition
'First And Only' J2EE Application Server Designed to Deliver Predictable Real-Time Apps

BEA Systems announced it plans to ship an application server capable of delivering predictable real-time application responses to enterprise applications. The new product, BEA WebLogic Real Time Edition, will be available in Q4 2005.

“WebLogic Real Time Edition is designed to help enable developers and IT administrators meet the needs of mission critical enterprise Java deployments, increase productivity and reduce IT project costs,” said Peter Cooper-Ellis, BEA's executive vice president for WebLogic Server.

BEA also said that WebLogic holds two of the top three spots in the industry-standard SPECjAppServer2004 benchmark test, including the current world record in Java performance in which BEA achieved a record 1,374.11 SPECjAppServer Operations Per Second (JOPS), using only half of the application server’s CPU and memory. This is based on the latest SPECjAppServer2004 results as of September 26, 2005.

The SPEC-developed benchmark measures the performance and scalability of Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) technology-based application servers.
