JasperSoft, which focuses on commercial open source reporting solutions and a JBoss Open Source Federation member, has announced availability of the JBoss Reporting Portal by JasperReports, which it calls the industry's first open source reporting technology integrated with the JBoss Application Server and JBoss Portal technologies.

The JBoss integration module is designed to simplify reporting for organizations running enterprise applications with the open source, J2EE JBoss software. Already a popular JasperReports download, it allows for easier viewing and administration of JasperReports tables and charts from within the JBoss Application Server and JBoss Portal environments.

The announcement was made at JBossWorld in Barcelona, and the product was being demonstrated at the event by JasperReports Founder and Architect Teodor Danciu.

"Technologies like JasperReports and JBoss Portal are growing quickly for their ability to provide essential functionality at a very low cost of ownership. Easier integration between the two technologies will be useful to IT professionals looking to extend open source beyond the application server level," said Al Campa, founder and executive vice president, JasperSoft.
