"Developers want the ability to mix-and-match the best components and deployment platforms that give them optimal and unique building blocks to get their jobs done," said Peter Cooper-Ellis, EVP of BEA, as Covalent Technologies and BEA announced they have entered into a strategic partnership. As a part of a blended approach to mixing and matching open source and commercial software, BEA Systems plans to offer blended BEA WebLogic management and deployment technologies.
"Apache Tomcat support will be another step in our continued dedication to making application development more efficient and fun so that developers can be more productive as well as helping the high number of Apache Tomcat users seeking production-level support," Cooper-Ellis added.
The technologies will be designed to provide automated management and production-level support for customers using Apache Tomcat. Instead of utilizing multiple management interfaces, or multiple vendors to resolve development and deployment issues, BEA customers will be able to have access to one of the world s first and only environments designed for blended Apache Tomcat and BEA Weblogic servers. As part of the support offering, Covalent will provide BEA with back-line support services for the Apache Tomcat Application Server, one of the most popular open source components in the world today.
We are very pleased to expand our partnership with BEA, says Mark Brewer, chief executive officer of Covalent Technologies. Now, for the first time, BEA customers deploying the Apache Tomcat Application Server can take full advantage of production support and deep expertise from Covalent, the recognized leader in providing products and services for Apache Tomcat.
