Quest Expands Customers' Existing Investments by Extending it to Linux
Extends the Power of Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 to Heterogeneous Enterprises

At Microsoft IT Forum, Quest Software has announced version 1.0 of Vintela Systems Monitor, a powerful solution that enables Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 to extend to Unix and Linux systems.

The new product enables enterprises that are already using MOM 2005 for Windows operations management, or those planning to deploy MOM, to leverage their investment by extending it to their non-Windows systems.

MOM 2005 helps reduce the complexity associated with managing has IT infrastructure environment and lowers the cost of operations, said Felicity McGourty, director of marketing for the Windows & Enterprise Management Division at Microsoft Corp. With the release of Vintela Systems Monitor, Quest is helping customers further leverage their existing investments by extending MOM 2005 for enterprise-wide monitoring that embraces and integrates heterogeneous systems with a single, powerful monitoring solution.

Version 1.0 of Vintela Systems Monitor extends the monitoring and proactive system resolution capabilities of MOM 2005 to Unix and Linux systems including AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, SuSE and Red Hat. Through a resident agent, the new product uses a standards-based approach to integration at the native level on each supported Unix and Linux operating system and version, which allows those systems to functionally act as MOM agents.

As a result, MOM 2005 may monitor, threshold, report on and proactively remedy operating environments throughout the entire heterogeneous enterprise.
