Denzel's billion-dollar unit had been losing money for nearly two years until the last quarter, when it reported an operating profit. An HP spokesperson has been telling journalists and analysts alike that the departure does not mean the HP software unit is in play. Which in turn might very well mean that the HP software unit is in play!

Is HP going to sell off its global software business? That would certainly be one way to interpret the sudden resignation of Nora Denzel, who heads up that unit.
