Zimbra has been named one of Gartner, Inc.'s "Cool Vendors for Web 2.0, 2006" in a March 14, 2006 research report by Rita E. Knox, Whit Andrews, Tom Austin, Nikos Drakos, David Mitchell Smith, Ray Valdes and Matthew W. Cain of Gartner, Inc. Zimbra, noted in the report by Matthew W. Cain as, "in many ways, [representing] the future of e-mail" was cited as being particularly relevant for, "people interested in the evolution of e-mail services, particularly those with curiosity about how Web 2.0 concepts can impact established technology, and those looking to create more efficiencies in the in-box via application integration." "Gartner works closely with the largest companies in the world and we are honored that Gartner has chosen us," said Scott Dietzen, Zimbra's CTO. "Zimbra has leveraged the open source community, along with our team of engineers, to fundamentally transform enterprise collaboration, and we're thrilled to be recognized as a 'Cool Vendor'." Zimbra's flagship product, the Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) is an open source, enterprise collaboration system that reduces the cost and complexity of collaboration, and changes the way users and administrators interact with their e-mail and calendaring applications. On the back end, the ZCS includes integrated search, single-copy mail store, discovery, anti-spam and anti-virus/security capabilities; on the front end, a rich, full-featured, AJAX-based Web client brings e-mail and calendar items to life through Web mash-ups.
