BEA Releases Beta of Next Generation WebLogic Platform

BEA has released the beta version of its WebLogic Platform 9.2, which includes WebLogic Server, WebLogic Portal, and BEA Workshop for WebLogic platform.
Workshop for WebLogic Platform is now based on the Eclipse Platform and brings the following capabilities:
• Tooling for Apache Beehive technologies
• Page Flows for MVC web development
• Controls for encapsulation of business logic
• Support for standards-based Java web services
• Support for Java 5 annotations
• Tools for upgrading applications from version 8.1
• Includes a copy of BEA Workshop Studio
WebLogic Portal 9.2 adds significant new capabilities which are part of the beta to target our core market and expand in new directions by providing:
This version of the WorkShop development environment is the first to support the WebLogic application framework while being based on Eclipse. WebLogic Portal Content Management enhancements include a WYSIWYG editor and improved federation and production operations capabilities. Also included is the GroupSpace collaborative application and framework. A release including WebLogic Integration will be available later in the year.
