We need your help. My team is trying to understand the demand for AJAX, in all its forms. Could you take a few minutes and answer a short survey? We're also offering an incentive. By taking the survey, you will have a chance to receive a $100 Amazon gift certificate. (BEA employees are not eligible). The survey is at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=12662795162 I recently have a talk at the University of Wisconsin Computer Science Department. It was part of a panel at theUniversity of Wisconsin Computer Science Department Database Group 30 year anniversary celebration. We were asked about what database schools should teach in the future. In summary: 1. Leadership. The right kind of leadership can make people operate at a level above what they think they can achieve. 2. Ethics. We must be aware how our work can be used 3. Failure. Too much of the literature has a success bias. We need to teach students to fail, and learn from it. 4. Scaffolding and Ontologies. Describing things at a larger and larger scale.
