HOUSTON, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BMC Software announced today that two of its executives will speak at the SHARE User Event, February 11-16 in Tampa, Florida at the Tampa Convention Center.

Ralph Crosby, chief technology officer for BMC Software's Mainframe Service Management Business Unit, will address the topic of "Transaction Management in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Environment" at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, February 15 while Rick Weaver, product manager for BMC Software's mainframe database recovery solutions, will present at 3 p.m., Monday, February 12 on "Business Continuity in the Data Center."

Crosby's presentation will discuss the challenges that SOAs create in applications and performance management and how transaction topology becomes considerably more complex thereby making performance analysis, capacity management and application deployment significantly more difficult in an SOA environment. Crosby's presentation will focus on the issues and use of existing capabilities to help understand and manage an SOA environment.

Weaver's presentation will discuss how to devise a business continuity plan to ensure business services. During his presentation he will address how to protect data from planned and unplanned events that fall short of site-wide disasters including data corruption, hardware or operating system failures and planned database maintenance. Weaver also will address how independent software vendors as well as how storage-based disaster recovery solutions can aid in developing a successful business continuity plan.
