(January 21, 2003) - Gap Inc., the world's largest international fashion retailer, has selected a variety of systems, software, and services from Sun Microsystems and its partners to build an open, standards-based, cost effective solution to run many business processes ranging from store systems support to headquarter applications through to distribution centers.

Gap Inc. has implemented the following solutions from Sun and its partners: Sun Fire Servers, Sun's high-end server offering, power Gap Inc.'s Oracle Financials implementation for a variety of financial and back end services. Sun Enterprise Servers were selected as the platform for retail data warehousing, merchandise planning system, and other supply chain applications. Gap Inc. and Sun have implemented a multi year Platinum Contract with Sun Services for 24/7 support of the Sun Fire Servers to drive expedited implementation schedules and reduce risks. Sun's large-scale systems will support Gap Inc.'s planned implementation of 360Commerce's Centralized Electronic Journal, which is a module of their J2EE technology-based retail software application Central Office. Additionally, Gap Inc. is implementing 360Commerce's Java technology based Point-of-Sale and Back Office applications.

360Enterprise Central Office provides the ability to quickly share information between corporate offices, other channels and stores to optimize store profits. Central Office, supported by the Sun ONE Directory server, provides a system of record for store configuration files, access to a centralized view of transactions and customer purchases across channels, and a central point for moving data back and forth between the stores and through the enterprise.
