(April 21, 2003) - Sun Microsystems, Inc. and NeuStar, Inc. have formed an alliance to provide the infrastructure necessary to deliver federated identity services. With NeuStar's NeuLiberty identity management services and the Sun ONE Identity Server, companies can interoperate and exchange digital credentials with other Liberty-compliant businesses via the Web, without having to build multiple peer-to-peer relationships. The NeuLiberty suite provides shared directory, discovery, and clearinghouse functions, enabling identity providers and service providers to identify one another on the Web and exchange sensitive transaction data in a secure manner. The Sun ONE Identity Server, a Liberty-compliant platform, is a key component of NeuLiberty's suite of identity management services. Prospective customers can access the NeuLiberty service by registering with NeuStar and purchasing the Liberty-enabled Sun ONE Identity Server directly from Sun. Prospective customers who prefer not to own and operate an identity management infrastructure, but want to participate in a Liberty-compliant identity network, may purchase Sun ONE-based identity services on a per ID subscription basis.
