Software AG's Communication Broker Expands Support for Java, .NET, and Web Services
Software AG's Communication Broker Expands Support for Java, .NET, and Web Services

(August 14, 2003) - Software AG, Inc., today announced that version 7.1.1 of its communication broker EntireX Communicator™ enables enterprises to open their existing IT systems to the Web or other servers as Microsoft .NET or Java objects. EntireX Communicator 7.1.1 also features broader support for Web services - including UDDI registries. Enhancements to EntireX Communicator will help enterprises expand and extend the value of their mainframe systems far into the future with minimal time and cost.

EntireX Communicator 7.1.1 includes several new interfaces that allow enterprises to present their existing IT systems to other applications as .NET or Java objects:

  • .NET wrapper - enables Microsoft .NET users to use EntireX Communicator to generate "native" integration objects for their .NET environment
  • JMS interface adapter - opens up the functionality of EntireX Communicator to applications that use a standard J2EE™ interface
  • EJB support - extends EntireX Communicator's Java wrapper to application servers (EJB™ Containers)

    Web Services Support
EntireX Communicator's XML wrapper technology, which focuses on exposing and wrapping existing applications as Web services, has been extended in version 7.1.1 with an XML-RPC server. This server enables a mission-critical application written in COBOL or Natural to talk to any Web service - internal or external - as if it were calling a local subprogram. There is no need to acquire XML skills since the mapping from a Web service description to an appropriate subprogram call can be completed in a few mouse clicks.

Now any application integrated with EntireX Communicator cannot only be exposed as a Web service itself, but can also consume external Web services. This enhancement facilitates more timely response to emerging business requirements because new functionality can easily be added to the system as needed by calling an external Web service.

EntireX Communicator 7.1.1 also offers UDDI Support. A Web service created with EntireX can now be registered with any UDDI registry using the UDDI Wizard provided by EntireX Workbench. Data compression has been added within version 7.1.1 to reduce response time during transmissions as well as improve the overall network throughput. Support has also been added for persistent messaging through a new Persistent Store mechanism that stores Units Of Work and Status Information in an Adabas database. EntireX Communicator Version 7.1.1 is now available in the Americas on all major operating systems, except VSE.
