(April 30, 2003) - The SCO Group has announced its SCOx strategy, a technology framework that will allow SCO, and its resellers and developers, to provide the benefits of Web services to small-to-medium businesses and branch offices. Using industry standards, such as XML, SOAP, and UDDI, SCO and its partners will deliver Web services-enabled applications. SCO's UNIX and Linux operating systems, the foundation of SCOx, will be updated to better enable Web services. The SCOx framework will allow customers to continue implementing SCO solutions in a traditional on premise environment, or access their applications and services online. SCOx will also allow for the integration of any Web services-enabled application including Microsoft .NET and SunOne J2EE applications. More than 4000 applications currently run on SCO platforms, including many that are focused on specific vertical markets such as manufacturing, pharmacy, retail, and finance. SCO has already begun rolling out portions of the SCOx framework to allow developers to enable their applications for Web services. For more information see www.sco.com/scox.
