Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Flex Developer's Journal Announces Editorial Advisory Board
Being a Flex coder was one of the main requirements to be included in the editorial advisory board of FDJ

We’ve created an editorial advisory board for Flex Developer’s Journal that includes well known members of Flex community. Our goal was to bring together people who work with Adobe Flex in the trenches and are specializing in Flex best practices, enterprise development, mobile devices, Flash, and Flex communication protocols. Being a Flex coder was one of the main requirements to be included in the editorial advisory board of FDJ. Please welcome...

Joe Berkovitz  is VP Engineering at Allurent, leading the development of Flex-based products offering a new level of user experience in online commerce. He has spent over 27 years in the software profession, as an architect, interface designer and engineer. He was Chief Architect at startups Ruckus Network and Unveil Technologies; before that he spent 8 years at ATG developing many of the core components of that company's products, originating a number of key ideas with patents granted or pending. Prior to ATG, he worked at Houghton Mifflin Co., Stratus
Computer and Bolt, Beranek and Newman, among others. His experience includes consulting as well as product development; he has worked with such diverse clients as Harvard Business School, Sony and BMG Music
Club.
Ted Patrick is a Technical Evangelist for Flex at Adobe Systems. He worked with Flash since FutureSplash Animator and watched its evolution from animation to application. Ted helped Macromedia/Adobe with the development of ActionScript 3, AVM2, ASC compiler, and Flash Player 9 for some 18 months prior to Flex 2’s release. Prior to joining Adobe in May 2006, he provided consulting services at PowerSDK Software and Cynergy Systems. Ted is a serial entrepreneur having successfully started-up 4 times and raised over 7 Million in VC funding for companies he founded. 3 companies have been successfully sold to other businesses and one was sold to a publicly traded company in 2001. Ted is actively involved in the Flex development community and works at Adobe to define the future of rich media.

Mark has over 15 years of software development experience. For the past five years he has been specializing in building software infrastructure products designed to integrate Flex, Flash, and AJAX applications with a variety of backend systems, including .NET, Java, PHP, and Ruby on Rails. Mark is very passionate about ease-of-use of software and prides himself in creating technologies that clearly demonstrate that quality.

Anatole Tartakovsky is a Managing Principal of Farata Systems. He's responsible for creation of Flex frameworks and reusable components. Anatole co-authored number of books ("RIA with Adobe Flex and Java" is the recent one) and articles on AJAX, XML, Internet and client-server technologies. Mr. Tartakovsky wrote his first recursive interpreter for graphic objects at the age of 14. He holds an MS in mathematics.

Jesse R. Warden
is a professional multimedia developer working at Multicast Media.  He specializes in Flex and Flash Development.  He has spoken at many venues including MXDU/WebDU, Atlanta Macromedia User Groups, and other venues about various Adobe products and technologies. Jesse runs a blog at jessewarden.com where he contributes Flash & ActionScript techniques, plugins, and sample projects to the community. Jesse enjoys coding, hanging out with designers, watching the History Channel, raving at da clubz, D&D, and playing games (all consoles, all PC genres). Will code for beer.

Jason R. Weiss is a widely recognized software industry veteran with over 17 years of professional experience covering the full software  development lifecycle. He routinely lectures on software development  topics and has written articles and guest editorials for multiple  trade journals. His most recent book entitled "Java Cryptography  Extensions" has been well received by the industry. Mr. Weiss is currently serving as the Chief Software Architect for Over-C, a UK  company specializing in the design and development of advanced RIA  Flex applications that tightly integrate with Near Field communication  (NFC) mobile phones.

I would like to thank each of these noted Flex developers for accepting our invitations, and are looking forward to a successful collaboration at FDJ.

I’d also like to extend my personal  invitation to all Flex bloggers to submit technical articles for publication in FDJ. I can’t promise that each of your proposals will be accepted, but I do promise you a quick response. Feel free to send your article proposals to me directly at yakov(at)sys-con.com (please include Flex Article in the subject line of your email).
