Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

BEA Partners with Altova, XMLSPY to Integrate with BEA WebLogic
BEA Partners with Altova, XMLSPY to Integrate with BEA WebLogic

(August 25, 2003) - BEA Systems, Inc., and Altova, Inc., have formed a new partnership to integrate XMLSPY 5 with BEA WebLogic Workshop™ 8.1. By combining the XML development tool with the J2EE development environment, developers now have access to one of the industry's most comprehensive solutions for building XML-based applications and enterprise class Web services.

With this partnership, developers can now seamlessly integrate the XMLSPY5 environment with BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1. Developers can use XMLSPY 5 to edit XML files and define XML schema definitions for use in BEA WebLogic Workshop. Combined with WebLogic Workshop's XMLBeans technology, developers can now easily define the format of their XML data using XMLSPY and leverage it within any BEA WebLogic Platform application. The new offering represents BEA and Altova's continued commitment to drive the adoption of XML-based technologies, open standards, and service-oriented development with both XMLSPY5 and the BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1. It also makes BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 and XMLSPY5 more easily available to BEA and Altova's combined developer community- offering increased choice to developers and enterprise customers alike.

To educate developers on how to harness the power of XMLSPY 5 and BEA WebLogic Workshop, the companies are sponsoring a free, online Webinar on Aug. 27, 2003, 9-10 a.m. PDT. This technical session will cover an overview of the XMLSPY 5 development environment, including a hands-on demonstration on how to edit XML Schema and WSDL files for use in conjunction with BEA WebLogic Workshop and BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 to help enable enterprise-class applications.

The joint BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 with XMLSPY 5 solution is available today. Developers can download a free developer license of WebLogic Workshop 8.1 with a free copy of XMLSPY5 WebLogic Edition, including a 30 day evaluation license for XMLSPY 5 Enterprise Edition.
