Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Introducing "XIP" to the Network Edge - "XML Intrusion Prevention"
Introducing "XIP" to the Network Edge - "XML Intrusion Prevention"

With offices in Boston and Salt Lake City, a company called Forum Systems has devised what it calls a "XML-Sentient" suite of content security infrastructure "that actively guards information as it moves between and within enterprises - at the origin, during transmission, and after it reaches its destination."

Quite a claim.

Chaired by Rick White, who brings to the company nearly two decades of industry start-up experience to the company and who also serves as an associate partner in a New York-based venture firm, Forum has just released what it is calling "the industry's first Web services firewall to stop hidden threats at the network edge."

Named "XWall" - a cool name for a Web services firewall  - Forum is banking on the security fears and concerns of enterprises and government agencies.  With XWall they are seeking to introduce a whole new class of XIP Security. (What's "XIP"? - it's XML Intrusion Prevention, what else?)

In Forum's view, XIP security is "the only way stop a new breed of Web services-related threats before they enter the network, ensuring the integrity and availability of critical business applications." They note that the pricing point of XWall "changes the economics of Web services security by providing both small- to medium-sized businesses and Fortune 500 enterprises instant and affordable protection without a sophisticated security infrastructure."

Let the buyer decide! Further info on XWall is here
