WebLogic Platform Now on Sun's Solaris Operating System for X86 Systems

This week at JavaOne, BEA Systems and Sun Microsystems announced the general availability of the BEA WebLogic Platform on the Solaris Operating System (OS) for x86 systems. "Our customers not only demand a choice of operating systems and low cost hardware when developing and deploying their applications on the BEA WebLogic Platform, they also want to lower cost and complexity, without sacrificing performance and security," said Scott Dietzen, chief technology officer, BEA Systems. "With general availability of BEA WebLogic Platform on Solaris OS for x86 systems our companies can continue delivering reliable and secure technology, services and solutions that can offer greater choice and flexibility designed for faster time to value. This can help customers focus on their company's profitability and competitive landscape."
Availability of BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 on Sun's Solaris OS for x86 systems includes support for BEA WebLogic Server, BEA WebLogic Portal, BEA WebLogic Integration, and BEAWebLogic Workshop. Sun and BEA are currently working on joint marketing and sales programs to address the growing interest and adoption of the Solaris OS for x86 among BEA's customers and partner community.
