Microsoft's acquisitions guy, corporate VP of corporate development Bruce Jaffe, also responsible for strategic investments and joint ventures - stuff like Microsoft's $6 billion aQuantitive acquisition and its $240 million Facebook investment - will be leaving the company at the end of February. Valleywag thinks he might start his own company in Silicon Valley.

Jaffe also lost DoubleClick and an AOL arrangement to Google. And there are perennial rumors about Microsoft buying Yahoo with the New York Post fanning those fires again Thursday when it claimed Microsoft was thinking of going public with its offer.
