Promise Technology announced that Promise VTrak E-Class RAID
subsystems will support Mac OS X Leopard and Final Cut Studio in select
configurations to be available at a later date through selected sales channels.
"Promise Technology is delighted to preview support for
Leopard and Final Cut Studio at Macworld," said Sam Sirisena, senior vice
president, sales and marketing, and general manager of Promise's Advanced
Storage Group. "VTrak E-Class RAID subsystems have been very popular with
Linux and Windows installations, and we're looking forward to bringing our high
performance, fully scalable storage solutions to the most demanding Mac
customers."
Each VTrak RAID subsystem configured for the Mac supports up
to 16 integrated 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives, and increased scalability is
achieved by adding an available expansion chassis with another 16 3Gb/sec SAS
or SATA drives, for capacities up to 24TB per configuration. Dual
active-active, failover/failback RAID controllers, 4Gb Fibre Channel connections
to the host, RAID 5 and RAID 6 support, along with global and dedicated hot
spare hard drives, will set a new standard for the RAID performance and data
protection found in the most demanding Final Cut Pro installations.
