Parallels has released the beta of its baremetal hypervisor-based Parallels Server hardware virtualization scheme to public download.

It works on Windows, Linux and Intelbased Macs and includes a Parallels Management Console, Transporter physicalto-virtual migration tool and backup utility.

There’s virtual support for two-way and four-way symmetric multiprocessing. Users can assign up to four virtual cores to a VM.

There’s also experimental support for Intel VT-d so hardware resources like graphics and network cards can be assigned to virtual machines, bringing VM performance closer to a real machine’s.
