Tripwire Announces Planned Support For Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V Virtualization
Microsoft and Tripwire Technology Team To Ensure Complete Configuration Control Across Heterogeneous Data Centers
Sep. 8, 2008 10:15 PM
Tripwire announced its planned support for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V.
Tripwire Enterprise monitors and controls IT configurations for continuous security and compliance, helping manage IT infrastructure to established policy. When non-compliant configuration changes are made, Tripwire Enterprise will show customers these changes in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007, indicating what policies were affected as well as the remediation steps to put the system back into a compliant state. From this single pane, users can hand- off Tripwire remediation advice to have staff manually remediate the issue, can launch Tripwire Enterprise in context for additional information, or can direct System Center Operations Manager to help remediate the issue automatically.
Tripwire Enterprise support for Microsoft System Center also includes support for System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 (SCVMM). On its own, Tripwire Enterprise natively assesses and reports on configuration integrity and compliance of both Microsoft and VMware infrastructure and virtual machines. Tripwire's integration with Microsoft System Center extends this functionality by enabling Tripwire Enterprise to present compliance status of virtual infrastructure within System Center Operations Manager, as well as providing PRO Tips within SCVMM containing detailed remediation instructions.
"Tripwire and Microsoft are aligned in our vision of providing a single destination for managing heterogeneous IT environments-across vendors and physical and virtual infrastructure," said Dwayne Melancon, vice president of Corporate Development at Tripwire. "Through System Center management suite, Tripwire Enterprise will allow customers to measure against their security, compliance and operational policies while providing a variety of options for remediation."
"Mutual customers can benefit from Tripwire Enterprise capabilities to extend the holistic desktop and datacenter management capabilities of Microsoft System Center, enabling a single view across a heterogeneous blend of virtual and non-virtual infrastructure," said David Greschler, director of integrated virtualization strategy, Microsoft Corp.
