InterSystems has announced that Ochsner Health System has selected the Progeny Anatomic Pathology (AP) information system from PathView Systems, an InterSystems application partner. Progeny is built on the InterSystems CACHÉ high-performance object database. Based in New Orleans, Ochsner provides services in 80 medical specialties and subspecialties and has over 8,000 employees. InterSystems product line includes the InterSystems CACHÉ high-performance object database, InterSystems Ensemble integration and development platform, InterSystems HealthShare platform for regional and national electronic health records, and InterSystems DeepSee embedded real-time business intelligence software. Anna, Texas-based PathView develops and markets information systems solutions and services, specializing in anatomic and clinical pathology healthcare applications. The importance of top-tier reliability and system recovery capabilities was driven home to Ochsner executives during Hurricane Katrina. Although the hospital system served patients throughout that crisis, it was clear that advanced recovery and system rollback facilities are critical for applications running in the Ochsner environment. "As a result, Ochsner was looking for an AP system that provides a complete workflow solution as well as a high degree of reliability and enterprise-wide scalability so they can deliver results 24x7," said Michael Mihalik, Pathview, vice president of sales.
