DULUTH, Ga., Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- DataPath, Inc., a leading provider of satellite and wireless communications networks around the world, has been awarded a delivery order to manufacture and deploy a satellite communications on-the-move (COTM) solution for U.S. Army forces in Iraq. The order initially includes a SATCOM hub earth terminal and two satellite COTM systems that will be installed on U.S. Army Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. With all options exercised, work under this agreement could total up to $3.9 million, including the initial COTM systems, the hub earth terminal and options for additional systems. The DataPath(R) COTM solution for the U.S. Army includes a low-profile antenna that can enable satellite communications (SATCOM) connectivity at vehicle speeds of 80 miles per hour or more.

In addition to systems included in the delivery order, DataPath will provide its MobiLink(TM) system for testing as an integral part of the COTM solution. MobiLink, a compact device mounted on a SINCGARS MT-6352 tray, links land mobile radio (LMR) and satellite COTM. With a simple, push-to-talk interface, MobiLink users gain cross-band capability that enables them to seamlessly use both the SATCOM and LMR links.

COTM-enabled MRAP vehicles with MobiLink will act as communications hubs, providing an everything-over-IP (EoIP) network link that establishes a robust line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) network anywhere. With this communications hub moving on the battlefield, many other users and vehicles can leverage the BLOS connectivity to establish mobile, high- bandwidth capability to send and receive video, data and voice communications.

Program Manager WIN-T's Commercial SATCOM Terminal Program (CSTP) at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J., made the award through the CSTP Blanket Purchase Agreement contract.
