Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Novell To Build Product for Moblin Netbooks
Moblin was launched in 2007 by Intel

Intel and Novell said Thursday that they're going to work together on getting OEMs and ODMs to adopt Moblin, the Intel-created open source Linux operating system built specifically for Atom-based netbooks and MIDs.

The pair even signed a pact outlining their plan which includes Novell creating a Mobiln-based product for netbooks - what exactly is shhh! unclear - but it's meant to target those OEMs and ODMs.

And Novell is supposed to set up an Open Labs in Taiwan to cultivate adopters.

This lab is supposed to work with the Taiwan Mobiln Enabling Center (MEC), a joint effort of Intel and the Taiwan Institute for Information Industry to validate designs for Moblin compliance.

Intel launched Moblin in 2007 and incubated the effort until last month when it was turned over to the Linux Foundation. Intel says it continues to contribute key technologies and work with the developer community to advance the effort.

Novell began contributing to the Moblin project in October. Its contributions include leading the open source development of key operating system features such as window, media, and email management.
