Xandros has announced that key staff will present a birds-of-a-feather session on using standard Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) technologies to maximize maintainability on Application Stores projects at the Sun JavaOne conference, Moscone Center, San Francisco, June 2, 2009. With the explosion of new mobile computing platforms, from smartphones to netbooks to e-book readers, an application store is no longer optional. It is a key contributor to the success of a platform. Building application stores is much more than just implementing an e-commerce engine. It also involves rich integration with the release management process behind the platform being targeted to ensure that device software is managed throughout its lifecycle. Each of the stakeholders, including software developers, hardware manufacturers, network providers, operating system vendors, platform policy managers, end users, and testing and certification teams have their own unique interests, workflows, and priorities for managing the software lifecycle. In this session, learn how to leverage Java EE technology to manage these complexities while keeping your code base maintainable. This requires a full spectrum of testing strategies extending far beyond simple unit tests. Using CNR.com as an example, the session explores the reasons why Java EE technology is well suited to this challenge, and it delves into some of the myths surrounding its limitations.
