The Zoho team has announced the addition of yet another product to Zoho'z AJAX-Based Office Suite. The availability of Zoho Wiki was announced on the Zoho blog recently in a post made by Arvind Natrajan. In addition to being a Wiki, Zoho Wiki incorporates a powerful WYSIWYG editor and in the words of Zoho, ‘fine grained access control’.
Blogger Michael Arrington has this to say, “Two things make this product stand out. The first is that the Wiki supports embedded data from other Zoho products. For example, a spreadsheet from Zoho Sheet can be embedded directly into the Wiki. Any changes to the spreadsheet, whether they are made in the Wiki or in Zoho Sheet, will be synced. The Wiki product also has a single sign in with other Zoho products.
Second, the entire Zoho suite of products is on the same overall architecture, making syncronization and new feature releases much easier between applications. Contrast that to Google’s suite, including two acquired products (Writely and JotSpot) and one mostly home-grown one (Spreadsheets). It will never be as homogenous as what Zoho has created.”
Zoho wiki features:
• All standard Wiki features
• A powerful WYSIWYG editor (Zoho Writer’s) that includes features like spell check, revision history, difference between any two versions and reverting to any older version
• Another big plus is the grouping functionality. In addition to having a Wiki as public (by default) and private, users can make your Wiki be viewed and/or edited by a selected group of members
• The Zoho Wiki uses the Zoho Single Sign-on, meaning users can use their existing Zoho ID to access it (no need for separate sign-up/in)
• Embedding of objects into Wiki pages like a Zoho Sheet chart, a Zoho Show slide show, a Zoho Creator application/form or a YouTube video.
• Other than the Wiki associated with the user name, a user can create 2 more wikis with his Zoho account. And there is no limitation to the number of pages per Wiki too.
Zoho wiki is available for free download. Visit http://wiki.zoho.com to know more.
